Pros of Buying a Combination American Mailbox Lock:1. Security: A combination lock provides an additional layer of security for your mailbox, preventing unauthorized access.
2. Convenience: Since no keys are required, there's no need to worry about losing them or making copies.
3. Durability: Many combination locks are made of robust materials, ensuring they last for a long time.
4. Weather Resistance: Combination locks designed for mailboxes are often weather-resistant, protecting them from the elements.
Cons of Buying a Combination American Mailbox Lock:1. Vulnerability to Forcing: If someone has enough time and determination, they may be able to force open the lock by applying pressure or using tools.
2. Potential for Misplacing the Combination: If the combination is lost or forgotten, access to the mailbox will be denied.
3. Limited Customization: Unlike keyed locks, combination locks have a limited number of possible combinations, which may make them less secure than some other lock types.
Conclusion: While combination locks provide an added layer of security and convenience, they are not foolproof. Their durability and resistance to the elements make them a good option for outdoor mailboxes, but their vulnerability to forcing and potential for misplacing the combination should be considered. If maximum security is a priority, a keyed lock or a more complex locking system may be more appropriate.
Recommendation: If you choose to buy a combination lock, make sure to purchase one from a reputable manufacturer and consider investing in a high-security model. Also, consider creating a backup system for the combination, such as keeping a written record in a safe place or sharing it with a trusted person.
The cards have been folded, and show some wear as well including some of the brown residue on them. The codes for the locks are written on the back of the lock, as well as on some small cards that are included. Cosmetically, the locks do show lots of wear from years of use, and have a brownish residue on them it appears to be an old rubber band that has deteriorated and stuck to the locks.
